Multi-Cultural Festival: Many thanks to those of you who participated in any way with the Multli-Cultural Festival on Sunday.
A special thanks to all who sponsored a booth, providing food and information of a specific cultural. Thanks also to Ann Pedersen
for arranging the entertainment. Finally, thanks to those who couldn’t attend but sent a donation. It was a small but enthusiastic gathering celebrating our differences.
Tuesday: Graduation pictures for the eighth grade. They should wear formal cloths for the picture but will change into their uniform afterwards.
Wednesday: Grades 4 and 5 will travel to Toyota in Georgetown for a tour of their plant, their wetlands and their recycling program. This trip is offered as a result of Saint Camillus receiving the PRIDE Campus of the Year Award.
Grades 6,7,8 will travel to Cumberland Gap for a study of the caves.
Thursday: Spring Clean-up: Students will work around the campus for approximately a half hour to do some spring cleaning. They may wear jeans, no shorts. This is still a school day so pants may not be torn or frayed and shirts should not have pictures or writing. If the child does not have a shirt without pictures/writing a uniform shirt should be worn. If a shirt with picture/writing is worn to school a uniform shirt will be given to the child to wear. It is advised to bring a long sleeve shirt to be worn for the clean-up. Plastic gloves will be provided.
Your tuition statement is in today’s folders. If you kept up with your payments this will be your last. If not, then you need to play catch-up. If you need a little more time, please contact the office to make arrangements. It is very important that everyone meets their financial responsibilities to the school in order for us to meet ours.
School Mall: Thanks to those of you who took the time to fill out the cards for the School Mall. If you haven’t yet done so would you please consider it.
As you read, St. Camillus receives money just for filling in the information.
In today’s folder is some information on a Child Safe Kit that you may be interested in. While the school letterhead is used, I am not specifically promoting this program. Please read the P.S. that the kit will be delivered to your home by a representative of an Insurance Company.
Dress Code: Last year I looked into a company that sold school clothes that were cheaper than Lands End and other retail stores. The items listed on the French Toast are specific to St. Camillus. When purchasing school clothes please choose only those items in keeping with the school code as outlined in the handbook, using any item from the French Toast papers or only those items from Lands End that meet the code. You as parents purchase your child’s clothing, so please make sure you purchase those in keeping with school policy.
More official grapevine news: Patricia Beckert, the new principal, comes to St. Camillus Academy with much experience in school administration. She served for the past eight years at St. Mary’s High School in Colorado Springs. Before that she was a principal for eight years at Divine Redeemer Elementary Catholic School in the same city. She says she “enjoys the challenge of developing a superior teaching staff, and building relationships with students and teachers.” The Search Committee was impressed with her love for ministry in Catholic schools and for her strong sense of values. We are very pleased she had accepted the role of principal at St. Camillus.
Sr. Ruth, presently our fifth grade teacher, will not be returning to St. Camillus next year. After 50 years in the classroom, Sister is taking a well deserved three month sabbatical. She has and continues to give 150% to her students. After her time off she is not sure of where Providence will lead her.
Classroom size and other needs will more than likely mean teacher changes. Please do not jump to conclusions or add to gossip and rumors that may be going around. I try to keep you informed when decision are made final. Until those times I would only be speculating.
